Conference of Joshua D. McGraw (ESPCI, IPGG, Paris) – 23 February 2023 at LOF
Near-surface transport of polymer solutions and time-dependent soft hydraulics

Dharshana Nalatamby defense of thesis
Dharshana Nalatamby successfully defended her thesis on 6 February 2023 (2pm) at LaBRI (Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche en Informatique). Her thesis was entitled “Molecular rotors: towards a quantitative and local measurement of viscosity in microfluidics”. The LOF thanks all the members of the jury, which was chaired by Ben Feringa. Congratulations to Dharshana !

Conference of Antoine Aubret (LOMA) at LOF “Light-driven assembly of active colloids” February 2nd 2023
Cells are prototypical examples of Active Matter, converting energy at small scale to organize at large scale. This biological complexity challenges our ability to engineer synthetic analogs. In this talk, I will show how we can carve non-equilibrium pathways to control the assembly of active microparticles, using light as a generic tool. I will first […]

Leïla Khacef receives the award for the best oral presentation at the 35th ECIS Conference
At the 35th ECIS (European Colloid & Interface Society) Conference held in Athens on September 5-10, 2021, Leïla Khacef, a third-year doctoral student at LOF, was awarded the Langmuir Prize for the best young scientist oral presentation, entitled “The role of the solvent on the supramolecular self-assembly and rheology of N-alkydiamide organogels”.

Dharshana Nalatamby awarded at the 23rd Day of the Doctoral School of Chemical Sciences
During the 23rd Journée de l’Ecole Doctorale des Sciences Chimiques de l’Université de Bordeaux on June 10, 2021, Darshana Nalatamby, a second year doctoral student at LOF, received the award for the best presentation, entitled “In-situ microviscosity measurements in microfluidic chip using fluorescent molecular rotors”. This day allows doctoral students to present their thesis topics […]
Conference of Etienne Piantanida
Conference of Etienne Piantanida (Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires UMR7006 Université de Strasbourg, France.) about « Nanocomposite hydrogel for biomedical applications ». Abstract: Hydrogels are materials that can entrap a high amount of water (up to 98%) and, thanks to their porous structure that allows oxygen and nutrients permeation [1], they are […]
Multi-functional hydrogel capsules
During this presentation, I will present our work on shaping hydrogels with a core-shell structure. Features of the hydrogel membrane in terms of permeability and mechanical properties or the ability to make composite hydrogels will be reported. Flow of a concentrated dispersion of capsules, where friction between objects can be tuned, will also be reported. […]
Study of complex flows
In this seminar, I will address two separate topics involving complex flows. First, I will discuss evaporation dynamics for large surfaces that generate convective flow due to the density difference between the vapor and the ambient air. Two geometries will be discussed, the horizontal circular film and the vertical rectangular film. I will show that […]
