Study of complex flows

Retour

In this seminar, I will address two separate topics involving complex flows. First, I will discuss evaporation dynamics for large surfaces that generate convective flow due to the density difference between the vapor and the ambient air. Two geometries will be discussed, the horizontal circular film and the vertical rectangular film. I will show that the evaporation dynamics are significantly impacted by convection. Secondly, I will present some first results on the effect of surface roughness on the flow of a dry and monodisperse foam. In particular, I will establish an empirical criterion on the entrainment of the foam by the wall.
